Food Pantry Weekly, 29Jul2015

Greetings Foodies! It was another great day at the Food Pantry. We broke some records tonight and you know how I love numbers, so bear with me for a sec…  We served 86 households tonight, a record; and those 86 represented 312 individuals, also a record. For the month of July, we served 382 households, a record; and those represented 1290 individuals, a record. So it was either a very sad night because the need is so great, or a joyful one because we were able to help so many. I suppose it’s both. Sometimes a client will give us something, or write something for us, that hits home. Tonight, a client left us this note…   Here is a look at our fantastic new 49 cu-ft refrigerator! So you can tell just how huge it is, also in the picture is a standard sized side-by-side residential unit. With the increase in clients, we need food contributions!  Or your financial support. Needs list is below. Thanks for your continuing support and please pray for all our clients. Carl ____________________________ This week’s needs list for those wanting to donate food:  beans (dry or canned), cereal, peanut butter, rice, soup, pasta sauce, canned veggies. Food Pantry Weekly, 22Jul2015

Greetings Foodies! It was another great day at the Food Pantry. Everybody came early tonight. When the 60th client signed in I looked at my watch; it was 5:35! So at that point all 60 of those clients were downstairs in the food pantry area at one time. It was crazy!!!  Over the next hour and a half we saw only 18 more. It’s just so unpredictable. Thank goodness some thingsare predictable…like having a great volunteer team: 12 during the week this week and 16 tonight; and of course the great provision of food. We ran out of many things just as we ran out of clients! God’s timing is impeccable, as usual. Our annual registration process is still plugging along – we’ve registered 163 households so far this month, including 28 tonight. We are kind of on the fence regarding the use of the fellowship hall as a cool waiting area between 4:00-5:15. Some clients tell us they really appreciate the space, but many check in then immediately go downstairs or back outside. In spite of the front-loading of arrival times this week, next week we’re going to bring everyone into the downstairs area at 4:00. The fellowship hall will still be open if people want to go there, but we’ll do all check-in and registrations downstairs. That, at least, will eliminate the awkward upstairs-to-downstairs transition at 5:15. After 4.5 years we’re still experimenting! The chaotic nature of the 5:00-5:30 time period kept me away from the volunteer prayers again tonight. I really miss that – just standing in that circle of great people, asking for God’s help in...

Greetings Foodies! It was another great day at the Food Pantry. Twenty-two people volunteered their time this week – what a miracle. I guess I’ve always been in the slow group, but I’m finally learning to really trust God, just by seeing Him be so faithful in providing workers and food. And the volunteers seem to have a great time too! Tonight we had three generations of the Koffend family and all six of them were busy helping. What a crew! During the past week the Trustees approved the purchase and installation of a new 49 cubic foot commercial refrigerator for the Food Pantry, as well as the addition of dedicated electrical circuits for that unit and a future freezer. Thanks so much to all involved! We hope to have the new fridge up and running next week. Please pray for all our clients.
