Greetings Foodies! . It was a great day at the Food Pantry!  At 3:00 we had a training class for volunteers who will be doing “Intake” on all clients — certifying them as eligible to receive USDA food. This is an annual requirement by the USDA, so the first few weeks in July are extra busy. And speaking of volunteers, I believe we set a record this week as 30 individuals gave of their time (some more than once) to help the food pantry ministry at Covenant. . If you have never volunteered here before, come join us on Wednesday at 5:00 to see first hand what it is that keeps our volunteers coming back!  And if you are interested in exploring a leadership position in the Food Pantry, please contact Carl or Pastor Stella. . Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients. .   Carl Wilson . twitter: @CovenantFood email: foodpantry@covenantaustin.org web: covenantaustin.org/events-activities/food-pantry/ .   Other business: This week’s needs list for those wanting to donate shelf-stable food: cereal soup We can always use: reusable shopping bags (not paper or “single-use” plastic bags please.) empty egg cartons Financial donations to the food pantry can be made by check or online at covenantaustin.org/events-activities/food-pantry/ . Greetings Foodies! . It was a great day at the Food Pantry!  The abundance of donated food continues to amaze us. Just this week we received 1892 pounds, in addition to the 766 pounds we received directly from Central Texas Food Bank. 2658 pounds of food. That’s 36 pounds for each household tonight. What a blessing. I love to overhear one client happily telling another how she was going to cook this or that she was taking home from Covenant tonight.  In the midst of the huge daily struggles many of them have, a little hope, a little bit of normalcy, God’s Grace. . Come join us on Wednesday at 5:00 to see first hand. And if you are interested in exploring a leadership position in the Food Pantry, please contact Carl or Pastor Stella. . Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients. . Food Pantry Weekly, 16Jun2016

Greetings Foodies! . It was a great day at the Food Pantry!  We were back to a number of clients more like what we experienced last Fall – 78 households tonight. We also had the CTFB Outreach team helping clients obtain SNAP benefits and the Wesley Nurse Sharon with us again doing health checks. It was a busy place! . A devotion I read this week from pastor/author Max Lucado ended with the notion, “You can do something today that will outlive your life.”  It reminded me of the butterfly effect we all read about a few years back, where a tiny action one place makes a small difference that in turn makes a larger impact somewhere else, and so on. Putting food on the table for a family this week might keep that family just a bit more stable for a few more days, keeping a child off the street and in school, and who grows up to make a substantial contribution to the world. Who knows what God might do with your gift? Thanks to you all for making a big difference that just might outlive your life! . Join us… Covenant food pantry has the following volunteer needs! Training will be provided. . (1) Help with Annual Certification of clients 4:00 – 7:00 Wednesdays beginning July 6. It’s a 5-minute sit with clients to fill out a form. We will need the most help the first few weeks. Spanish and Vietnamese skills are especially valuable, but not required. There will be a mandatory training class the prior Wednesday. . (2) Receive Whole Food Deliveries. Cover for a vacationing volunteer Fridays July 1-29.  Be at church...
