Food Pantry Weekly, 27Jul2016

Greetings Foodies! . It was a great day at the Food Pantry – and a busy one!  We had the privilege of serving 85 households tonight, the busiest since January, and we completed Intake on 29 households. I don’t know about the other volunteers tonight, but I’m exhausted! Everyone seems to give their all to help and I know several tonight are as tired as I am!  Set up. Deliveries. Serving food. Restocking the serving lines. Prayer. Helping clients out to their vehicles or bus. Clean-up. And lots of paperwork. What an organization. What a team. What a loving God we serve who gives us the resources and the strength to get everything done!  . If you have never volunteered here before, come join us on Wednesday at 5:00 to see first hand what it is that keeps our volunteers coming back!  Or contact me about helping behind the scenes during the week. And if you are interested in exploring a leadership position in the Food Pantry, please contact me or Pastor Stella. . Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients. . . Greetings Foodies! . Yes, yes, I know I’m late getting this out. Several of you have reminded me that I’m late. As hard as it may be to believe, I do have a life outside of food pantry. 😉  But enough about me… . It was a great day at the Food Pantry!   In addition to the Central Texas Food Bank’s Outreach Team representative who faithfully joins us the 3rd Wednesday of each month to help with SNAP registrations and other benefits, we had a new partner join us at Food Pantry tonight from Workforce Solutions, representing the Texas Workforce Commission.  Jennifer met with clients, telling them about their offerings, including how to prepare a resume, how to successfully interview, basic computer skills, English as Second Language, matching client skills with available jobs, and many others. People in need need help now; but helping them with jobs gets at the root of poverty. This one-two punch is the way to some day conquer hunger in America.  It is great to be partnered with these two outstanding organizations, not to mention all our wonderful donors and supporters! . If you have never volunteered here before, come join us on Wednesday at 5:00 to see first hand what it is that keeps our volunteers coming back!  Or contact me about helping behind the scenes during the week. Food Pantry Weekly, 13Jul2016

Greetings Foodies! . It was a great day at the Food Pantry!  Another “light” day, with only 57 households. The downward trend that began around the beginning of the year continues. Our 12-week rolling average has now dropped from 85 to 68 (see the attached chart) in just six months. We would like to think that a significant number of people are finding work and no longer need us; but we rarely find out what happened – they just drop off our radar!  However, for those 57 households who did come tonight, they left with all they could carry and then some! . If you read last week’s Weekly, you may remember that we began our annual re-certification of all clients. That continued tonight, and in these first two weeks we have completed processing 88 households.  . If you have never volunteered here before, come join us on Wednesday at 5:00 to see first hand what it is that keeps our volunteers coming back!  And if you are interested in exploring a leadership position in the Food Pantry, please contact Carl or Pastor Stella. .
