Urgent Help Needed!

We have an urgent need for someone to pick up our weekly orders at the food bank. This is a good job for a two-person team, although it can be done by a single person. You will drive a small U-Haul van, pick up the order and bring it back to Covenant. Must be able to lift/transfer up to 60 lbs, although most items are 30 lbs or less. Commercial license is not required. You would alternate months with another team member.  Let me know if you are interested or have questions.  Tell your friends about this opportunity to serve! Food Pantry Weekly, 28Sep2016

Greetings Foodies! . It was a great day at the Food Pantry! . It was good to be back at the food pantry after a long vacation. I must mention the people who filled in for me these past three weeks: Colleen, Kit, Vickie, Maja and Bob — in addition to what they always do. Thank you so much!  Everything ran smoothly due to your diligence. See…you really don’t need me! The lottery system we’ve been using the last five weeks is running smoothly. The idea was to remove the incentive for clients to come earlier and earlier in the day in order to be one of the first in line. Client feedback has been mostly positive. . The food pantry “business” is an odd one. After serving 91 households last week, we thought that was probably an outlier; but tonight we had 95!  After averaging in the 80s last Fall, we saw our 12-week rolling average fall into the 70s, then 60s. But numbers have steadily increased the past 6 weeks and we’re back to 80 (see attached chart). I am also grateful to God for continuing to provide wonderful new volunteers. Recently added to our team are Daphne and Shane. Welcome! . If you have never volunteered here before, come join us on Wednesday at 5:00 to see first hand what it is that keeps our volunteers coming back!  And if you are interested in exploring a leadership position in the Food Pantry, please contact me or Pastor Stella. . Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients. . . Other...

Food Pantry Weekly 21Sept2016

Greetings Foodies! The Food Pantry can mean a lot of things to different people! It can be exhilarating, exhausting, frustrating and fulfilling all at the same time! Tonight was an exceptional night as you will see with the numbers. The lottery system was taxed tonight as we had more than 60 people signed up by 5 o’clock! As usual, I was concerned about there not going to be enough volunteers to show up but God sends just the right amount of people to help at just the right time. Oh, ye of little faith! Tonight I want to tell you about one of our clients stepping up and helping in such an unexpected way. Someone had thrown paper towels into one of the toilets in the Women’s Restroom. I was informed of the situation and quite frankly didn’t have a clue what to do. One of our clients overheard the conversation and said that if we had gloves, she would clean out the paper! She proceeded to tell me that she had worked in a nursing home before and that this really wasn’t any big deal. I’m thinking, “Not a big deal??”. I ran to get her gloves. She went in and within a few minutes had it back in shape! I hugged her and thanked her. She just said she didn’t mind because of all that we do for her!! Paying it forward! God is good! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped this week, this wouldn’t get done without a great team effort. Carl will be proud but we will be glad when he returns! ....
