Greetings my fellow foodies! 1 Thessalonians 5:11-14 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. It was another crazy but good week at the Food Pantry. It seems that crazy and numbers over 100 are now the new normal. I was thinking about this Civil Rights test  we all must take as a requirement from the Feds. I don’t really know why we have to take this because I know at our food pantry, we could care less about your ethnicity, disability, gender, national origin or age, Read the scripture above, Paul encourages the church at Thessalonica to treat everyone the same, with love! You can’t force someone to care or make them not be prejudice without Christ. We do a great job of doing this and I encourage you to continue! The reason I encourage you is because I know that things can get a little out of control from time to time and whether it be people or our system, frustration can rear its ugly side. Despite those things, what I see is personalities overcoming that and still be the hands and feet of Christ. The need is great and I’ll keep...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! . Matthew 14:19-21 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. . We had the second highest total (115) ever this week and so I thought about this passage. It seems that we have always had enough food to distribute on any given week. This is how God’s economy works! As this ministry continues to grow in numbers, so far we have met the challenge but only by Gods blessing. . Friends, at some point a tsunami will occur on Wednesday and we will have to trust in God more than ever. The mere fact that we handle the traffic we have now is nothing less than a miracle. We have an awesome volunteer team! . Join our team! Or step up your current involvement!  See below under  What do we need,  and if you have questions or interest in joining us please reply to this email or contact Colleen Meyer or Pastor Stella. . Thank you  to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients. . This week’s numbers: # households served: 115 # individuals served: 326 # first-timers: 21 # of volunteers: 30 What do we need: Needs list for those wanting to donate items : toiletries – toothpaste, toothbrush,...

Greetings Fellow Foodies, . 2 Timothy 1:8 states: Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God. . I don’t often find myself quoting the Pope however I agree with his statement, “Christianity is not a school of ideas or a collection of beautiful temples and lovely art; it is a living people who follow Jesus and give witness to him every day!” . Every month I go and read to my blind friend. She subscribes to a newsletter called “The Voice of the Martyrs” and that is what I read. It tells of the many stories of the persecution of Christians in other countries. Many are heart wrenching as families watch their loved ones face unspeakable torture even to death for standing up for their faith in Christ! . Why am I starting this food pantry weekly with this? It’s because it occurred to me that even though we may just be seen as a place to come get some free food by some, we are offering Christ to many by the love and prayers we share. Yes, it’s a lot of hard work to put this “show” on every week but each and every one of us volunteers must ask ourselves what our true motives are to spend all this time if all we care about is handing out food. We are putting our faith into action! You are saying to the world, Christ is real and I’m standing up for HIM! That’s worth so much...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! . Matthew 9:35-38 . 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” . As I gazed up to witness a beautiful Harvest Moon tonight, I thought of this passage. We were a tad light in our produce section with volunteers but as always the ones we had, stepped up their game! As our new normal of over a 100 clients coming to the food pantry weekly, I can’t help but think the needs are so great and we have such few resources but God takes what we have and gives in abundance. . But the needs are so much greater in many instances than just the physical sustenance in the form of food, that it breaks my heart. One client mentioned that her daughter had attempted suicide and that she was trying to get her some mental help with limited financial resources. What other tragic stories are going that we know nothing about? Pray for this client! . We had an abundance of flowers Wednesday night which always brightens the mood as I suspect many of our clients don’t have the luxury of buying extras like this! What a blessing to see smiling faces...
