Food Pantry Weekly, 27Jun2018

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 102 · # individuals served: 335 · # first-timers: 14 · # of volunteers: 25  It was another great night at OUR Food Pantry. It was pointed out that we should call this OUR Food Pantry and not “the” Food Pantry. I like that! The summer heat continues so it was great to have a couple of boy scouts there to help carry out the groceries and haul boxes to the recycle bin. We really worked them and appreciate their help. God seems to send help just when we need it. All of our volunteers work extremely hard and without complaining! . Don’t forget, we will be closed on July 4th but the following Wednesday, July 11th, begins our yearly registration process of all the clients. There will be registration training on July 2nd or the 10th at 6:30pm at Covenant if you could help out for a few weeks. Peace and blessings to all! Please note the other ways you can help below but always keep OUR Food Pantry in your prayers! Join our team! Or step up your current involvement! See below under What do we need, and if you have questions or interest in joining us please reply to this email or contact Bob Weeks, Ernie Cruz or Pastor Stella. Thank You to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients. What do we need: • Needs list for those wanting to donate items: • toiletries – toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo (including the free hotel size), toilet paper, feminine products,...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers:  # households served: 113  # individuals served: 357  # first-timers: 15  # of volunteers: 29 It was another great but extremely busy evening at Covenant Food Pantry! No matter where you may stand concerning the recent discussions about immigration policies, here at the Food Pantry, we were busy helping people in real and tangible ways. I think most of us leave our opinions at home for three hours on Wednesday evening and look beyond the differences. This is where church happens. I know for a fact that my opinion would clash with many but I love our volunteers. We are working together for a common purpose of blessing God and blessing others! Here are some important dates: July 4th – Food Pantry Closed July 2 and July 10 – 6:30 pm, at Covenant – training for the registration process that begins on July 11th, we have to register everyone again. If you can speak Spanish fluently, we could sure use you! Contact me or Ernie. Blessings and peace to all! Please see the note below about Tuesday and Wednesday Mornings. We have a critical need for a helper or two. Food Pantry Weekly, 13Jun2018

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: ·  # households served: 121 · # individuals served: 380 · # first-timers: 21 · # of volunteers: 32   . Heat and continued overwhelming numbers, is taking its toll. I am very concerned that we are quickly getting to place that is unsustainable. However, I thought that when we hit 40 a week, then 50, then 75 and so on! I have to keep reminding myself of the fact that we have never run out of food yet! We may run out of patience or stamina, but God continues to bless this ministry with some amazing volunteers who despite the circumstances continue to serve selflessly!   However, having said that, we could always use more volunteers especially in the area of picking up food from some of our newer local contributors such as Sprouts and HEB McNeil. These new sources have provided much more produce and breads. The problem is that it needs to picked up during the work day. If there is any way you could give a couple of hours a week in this endeavor and you haven’t volunteered in a while, WE NEED YOU!!    Please take a moment to reread all the opportunities below to help this ministry.   Don’t forget, we will be closed on July 4th but the following Wednesday begins our yearly registration process of all the clients. There will be registration training on July 2nd and the 9th if interested.   Peace and blessings to all! Please see the note below about Tuesday Morning. We have a critical need for a helper or two. Join our team!...

Food Pantry Weekly, 06Jun2018

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 121 · # individuals served: 413 · # first-timers: 15 · # of volunteers: 27 It was an extremely busy and hot evening as we move into the summer season. We worry about some of our more vulnerable clients as they deal with the heat. In fact, we all, clients and volunteers alike need to take precaution. Heat not only raises the temperature, it raises emotions. Other than that, it was another successful evening. We must always be cognizant of our reasons for serving, bringing praise and glory to God first!   On another note, I would personally like to take time to thank one of our volunteers, Colleen Meyer, who is moving to the Dallas area to take care of her aging parents. She has been a vital part of not only the Food Pantry but she has been head of Covenant’s Missions Committee for years. Thank you, Colleen, for all that you’ve meant to us and Godspeed in your new mission field. We will miss you!   Peace and blessings to all! Please see the note below about Tuesday Morning. We have a critical need for a helper or two. Join our team! Or step up your current involvement! Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 112 · # individuals served: 352 · # first-timers: 9 · # of volunteers: 26  . Unfortunately I was unable to attend Food Pantry this week due to not feeling well so I do not have any stories to report. As far as I know it was a typical crazy evening but great night. Instead I want to point out a few future things happening in July. . First, we will be closed on July 4th. I know that being hungry doesn’t take a holiday, but I also know how important it is to spend time with family and recharge our engines with a short break. . Second, July 11th will begin the yearly registration process so we will need some extra hands helping in that area as everyone must register whether they are new clients or not! Spanish fluency would be a big plus. There will be a short training session if you are interested, details and dates to come . Peace and Grace! . Please see the note below about Tuesday Morning. We have a critical need for a helper or two. Join our team! Or step up your current involvement!
