Food Pantry Weekly, 24Oct2018

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 97 · # individuals served: 349 · # first-timers: 18 · # of volunteers: 36  3220 pounds of food received this week from all our various sources!  “that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” -Matthew 5:45 Last week I talked about how fortunate we’ve been to avoid precipitation for most Wednesdays. This week we were not so fortunate as a steady light rain continued the entire evening up until we closed, of course! However, it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of either our clients or our volunteers. One client armed with an umbrella as she was heading for her car, pulled me aside and said she had always wanted to do this and promptly started singing the classic, “Singing in the rain”! That brought a smile to my heart. As you can see by the numbers though, the weather may have lowered them a bit. Although, 18 new clients always scares me but we have to always remember who is ultimately in control and who always provides. God is good, all the time and ……….. . Next week we will be open on Halloween so I’m asking all our volunteers on Wednesday evening to come dressed for the occasion although I’d rather not see any witches or goblins!  . It was another tremendous night at OUR Food Pantry! Thank you all for participating in this ministry. Each of you play a vital role! Peace and blessings...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 105 · # individuals served: 303 · # first-timers: 14 · # of volunteers: 31    4128 pounds of food received this week from all our various sources! “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”  –Proverbs 3:27 What do you want for your birthday? Ever had that question? Well, I got exactly what I wanted since it WAS my birthday this past Wednesday. I got to celebrate it with family and over a hundred of my friends, both clients and volunteers, at our Food Pantry. I cannot think of a better way or place to celebrate. And although it was a cool and misty evening, the really heavy rains we’ve been experiencing lately held off until after we had closed and gone home. I had been praying that God would hold off and he did! When I think back on the hundreds of Wednesdays we’ve been in existence, fewer than 5 have been really rainy and difficult to operate. Thanks be to God! It was another tremendous night at OUR Food Pantry! Thank you all for participating in this ministry. Each of you play a vital role! Peace and blessings to all! If you are looking for something to donate besides food, we need more egg cartons, diapers and baby wipes! Please take a moment to reread all the opportunities below to help this ministry. WE NEED YOU!!  Come join our team! Or step up your current involvement! See below under What do we need, and if you...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 120 · # individuals served: 410 · # first-timers: 20 · # of volunteers: 30 . NEW STATISTIC – total weight of the food received this past week from all of our sources – 3,838 pounds! That’s 32 pounds of food per household! . “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”   –2 Corinthians 9:7   Obedient cheerful giving drives away the evil forces of our world. Have you ever considered our Food Pantry as a force that combats the evil forces of the world? The hundreds of man hours that go into preparing to open the food pantry each week is a form of cheerful giving, a giving of time! Then for the three hours on Wednesday evening, we have heaven on earth and the the evil forces cannot stand against it. This is why we have not had any major problems over the 7½ years we’ve been open. God is with us as we do His work!   It was a strange evening in that we usually get the first 80 or so families through by the end of the first hour. However, Wednesday looked to be a slow night with a relative light crowd early but clients kept trickling in all evening and we finished a little late with 120 households. So goes the Food Pantry! Thank you all for participating in this ministry. Each of you play a vital role! It was another tremendous night at...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 118 · # individuals served: 389 · # first-timers: 12 · # of volunteers: 37  Ecclesiastes 3:1  There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. . Let’s face it, we all have had our moments when life can be overwhelming! Just in the last month, I’ve experienced several life events; the birth of a new great niece, the death of a long time church member and the celebration of both my brother’s 70th birthday and my granddaughter’s 1st! A season for everything. Those who are more closely associated with the food pantry in it’s everyday operation understand just how overwhelming our task of feeding 389 people every week can be but through it all you continue to put others first whether it’s a client or a fellow volunteer. Being able to look at our Food Pantry in an overall sense definitely allows me to see the love everyone displays all for the glory of God. This is the reason we’ve been so successful! We had a bunch of new volunteers on Wednesday night which always helps lessen the burden of our regulars. It was great to see all the new faces! Thank you all for participating in this ministry. Each of you play a vital role! It was another tremendous night at OUR Food Pantry! Peace and blessings to all!
