Food Pantry Weekly, 12Dec2018

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 111 · # individuals served: 334 · # first-timers: 16 · # of volunteers: 37 7260 pounds of food received this week from all our various sources!  And do not forget to do good and to share with others,  for with such sacrifices  God is pleased.   –Hebrews 13:16 As the year is winding down and preparation for Christmas is winding up, we all must take a moment to catch our collective breaths! However, this past Tuesday did not allow for that as it seems that the Christmas Spirit is hard at work. I guess we’ll take a breath after Christmas. Tuesday was interesting because not only did we have our usual pickup from the food bank, we had two additional pickups. One was a food drive donation from a local business of 476 pounds and the other was 1750 pounds of oranges from a Rotary club. It was a hectic run for or team but they did without grumbling or complaining. Did you see the total amount of food we received this week? Astounding! . Then as I drove into the parking lot on Wednesday evening, the clients were already lined up longer than I’d seen before and my first thought was that this was going to be another one nights that would be chaotic. As it turned out it was one of the smoothest nights we’ve had in a while and we were able to close right on time! I know God is pleased with what we do and continues the bless this ministry especially with the best volunteers! Next week...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! This week’s numbers: · # households served: 121 · # individuals served: 385 · # first-timers: 12 · # of volunteers: 34 4,687 pounds of food received this week from all our various sources!  “There could be no definition of a successful life that does not include service to others.” -George H.W. Bush As I reflected upon the life and death of our 41st president this past week, I ran across the above quote from him. No matter what your politics are, George H. W. Bush was a good man and dedicated his life to the service of his country. On one occasion during WW2, he nearly lost his life in service but was miraculously saved as God had other plans for him! This week also marked the 77th anniversary of Pearl Harbor where on Dec. 7th, 1941 over 3,000 lost their lives on that single day. While I know we aren’t necessarily putting our lives in danger each Wednesday, the sacrifice of time and service is what helps keep this valuable ministry going and even better, it pleases God! Even during this most stressful period of Christmas where the demands on our time is stretched to its limits, each of you come willingly to help those who need our help! We have also been blessed with lots of extra resources in both the form of finances and food drives. God is good! Thank you all for participating in this ministry. Each of you play a vital role! It was another wonderful evening of fellowship at OUR food pantry! Peace and blessings to all! If you...

Greetings Fellow Foodies! Last week’s numbers: · # households served: 123 · # individuals served: 408 · # first-timers: 19 · # of volunteers: 36 5,483 pounds of food received this week from all our various sources!  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. -John 1:1 You can tell that the Christmas season is upon us with the lateness of this weekly update. With Thanksgiving over, we move into the busiest time of year. Look at the amount of food we received! A lot of that came in the form of a hundred bags from Sprouts filled with various items that people purchased when they shopped. It seems that even in the midst of holiday shopping, many people will take a moment to think about others and their needs. The pantry itself moved much more smoothly with the small changes that were incorporated. We also had an abundance of volunteers which we utilized to sort through the 100 bags. The chaos we experienced the two weeks prior was nonexistent so we were able to finish up right on schedule. That makes for a better environment for both our clients and our volunteers. Give God the glory! It was another tremendous night at OUR Food Pantry! Thank you all for participating in this ministry. Each of you play a vital role! Peace and blessings to all! If you are looking for something to donate besides food, we need more egg cartons, diapers and baby wipes and MONEY!! Please take a moment to reread all the opportunities below to help this ministry. WE...
