Food Pantry Weekly, 02Dec2015

December already, and I’m caught up (already!) in the hustle and bustle of the season.  At least, that’s the excuse I’m using for being late in posting this Weekly!  Eighty-four households Wednesday night. It would be boring, were it not so fulfilling. One volunteer said, “It feels like a ’50’ night.” Nope, 84. I guess 84 is easy now. I hope it never becomes “routine.” I hope it – and we – are always full of wonder at what happens every week in the food pantry. God continues to send people with food to us at the same time as He sends people who need food. His ways are mysterious!
We are continuing to transport our increasingly large weekly loads the 40-mile round trip from Capital Area Food Bank each Tuesday using two pick-up trucks. Hopefully this is a short-term solution. We badly need a large capacity vehicle (3/4 ton or more) for just a couple of hours each Tuesday. If you have a solution for us, please contact me at
First-time clients continue to tell us they have recently lost their jobs. It’s a tough world we live in. So many have no reserves, living from paycheck to paycheck. When the paychecks stop, even briefly, they are devastated. We who are blessed with material blessings are called to help. Please pray for all those who come to us for help,
This week’s needs list for those wanting to donate shelf-stable food:

Also, we can always use reusable grocery shopping bags (Not paper or “single-use” plastic bags please.)
If you have questions about how to make financial or food donations, please contact the church office at 512-346-3124.
