Food Pantry Weekly, 04May2016

Greetings Foodies!
Happy 5th Anniversary Covenant Food Pantry!!!  Yes, it was five years ago this week that we first opened our doors to the community. Three of us attended the 2016 Capital Area Food Bank Partners Conference yesterday. It was an opportunity to compare notes with workers from other food pantries and agencies, and I could clearly see just how far we’ve come in these five years. But we can’t be complacent. I came back with a list of ideas to make us better!  I’m so grateful to the great people at CAFB who are the foundation for most of the hundreds of hunger relief agencies of central Texas.
Back in the trenches…there was anger in a couple of our clients tonight. Psychologists tell us that anger is a secondary emotion. In other words, there is generally another emotion underneath; perhaps fear, or jealousy, or frustration.  The anger of one client was superficially directed at me and another volunteer. But I don’t think this person was really angry at either of us – we were just available.  If I were in her shoes I’d probably be angry too.  I get frustrated over much less than what she faces every day, every week, year in, year out.  I wish I could make all our clients’ hardships just go away.  But for whatever reason, God has seen fit to allow us to help just one meal, one day, one week at a time. And I trust His wisdom over mine!
Thank you so much for your great support, and please pray for all our clients,
Carl Wilson
