Tonight I was privileged to be able to step back in an observer role, in other words, I got to be Carl! What I saw was a well oiled machine! I got to church earlier than usual with the crazy idea that I needed to be there to help. Silly me! The fellowship hall was already hopping with Pastor Stella calling out the lottery numbers. Food and drinks were readily available and everyone seemed amiable! So I headed down to Food Pantry only to find everything already laid out, ready to be distributed and waiting for volunteers to arrive. Most of our regular volunteers showed up, we prayed and got things rolling!
All I can say is God has supplied us with the finest group of volunteers an organization like ours could have! Everyone rolls up their sleeves and served our valued clients with the heart of Jesus! Awesome!!
Here is a story from last week that needs to be told:
“One of the last people through was a new gentleman who had been brought to the Food Pantry by a recent regular. When it came time for the prayer, he asked if he could lead it. He held back tears as he prayed. When he was done, we asked if he needed anything more. He told us that he had a bad experience with Methodists in the past, so he was wary about coming to our Pantry. But after being treated so well by everyone that evening, he was changing his opinion!”
This man did indeed return this week!
Again, Foodies, the interaction and relationships fostered each and every week IS the inspiration and the food is merely the vehicle. To God be the Glory!
Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients.
