It was another great night at the food pantry. Our Mission Statement includes the words “We are blessed to be a blessing….” I’ve never appreciated those words quite so much as I do within the context of the food pantry. In a nutshell, what the words mean is that we are allowed to be a blessing to others, and in doing so we ourselves are blessed. All I have to do is watch the faces of our clients and our volunteers to know that it is true. Roughly speaking, we are categorized as a “medium-sized food pantry”. But large, medium or small, what really matters is the one-on-one connection between individuals — a welcoming smile, offering a loaf of bread, a minute of prayer or a helping hand to carry a bag.
Thank you for your continuing support and please pray for all our clients.
This week’s needs list for those wanting to donate shelf-stable food: canned fruit, canned tuna. Also, we can always use reusable grocery shopping bags (Not paper or “single-use” plastic bags please.)
If you have questions about how to make financial or food donations, contact the church office at 512-346-3124.
