Food Pantry Weekly, 10Aug2016

Greetings Foodies!
It was a great day at the Food Pantry!  I think the heat index was something like 110 this afternoon. And yet, so many came; some waiting outside for 3, 4, 5 hours. It’s a tough way to go grocery shopping. We were able to open our doors at 3:30 so people could at least get out of the heat during the worst of it, and have a cold glass of water.
Have you ever seen 135 dozen eggs? It’s not the most we’ve ever received, but it’s a lot! They mostly came from the food bank. Fortunately eggs keep for a while. And milk! I didn’t count them, but there were many. Everyone who came got milk and eggs if they wanted them, including a young man who came to our door 35 minutes after our closing time. We loaded him up. He seemed surprised and very thankful. It’s so much fun to delight someone. It must be similar to how God feels when he showers us with his grace.
If you have never volunteered here before, come join us on Wednesday at 5:00 to see first hand what it is that keeps our volunteers coming back!  And if you are interested in exploring a leadership position in the Food Pantry, please contact me or Pastor Stella.
Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients.
