Food Pantry Weekly, 11May2016

Greetings Foodies!
It was a great day at the Food Pantry!  We and those who come to us for help were greatly blessed by the abundance of food. Our pantry receives well over a thousand pounds of donated food each week in addition to another thousand from Capital Area Food Bank. So when we say we distributed a ton of food in 90 minutes, we mean that literally!  And of course, twenty-two volunteers contributed many hours this week to help make it happen!
I feel such empathy for our clients, but every now and then one especially tugs at my heart. A young couple came tonight, she pregnant, and neither looking to be over 20 years old. And here they are at a food pantry. What hope do they have of pulling out of their struggle?  Sometimes it’s as if I’m watching people who have been thrown into quicksand and I’m not able to really pull them to safety. We throw them a line, but it holds them only briefly. May God have mercy on each one.
Please pray for all our clients,
Carl Wilson
