Food Pantry Weekly, 12Aug2015

Greetings Foodies!

It was another great day at the Food Pantry.  We had a lot of vacation taking this week, and of course I was panicking, right up until the time God covered all those situations. Thanks so much to the Knightens and Flanagans for stepping up to help with large muscles and large vehicles!

We served 83 households tonight. That made three times in the last six weeks we’ve topped 80. At these volumes we’re bursting at the seams on Wednesday nights. And Capital Area Food Bank estimates that the whole network (the food bank + all the pantries) is meeting only one-third of the hunger need in central Texas. Our own top challenges to continued growth are: space and fresh foods. If you know any area farmers (including egg-farmers) ask them if they would be interested in becoming a food source for our pantry!

And of course, keep your own food contributions and financial support coming!  Thanks for your continuing support and please pray for all our clients.

This week’s needs list for those wanting to donate shelf-stable food:  canned tuna, beans (dry or canned), canned fruit.

To make monetary or food donations, please contact the church office at 512-346-3124, or drop items in the big food pantry box in the hall near the church kitchen.
