Food Pantry Weekly, 16Jun2016

Greetings Foodies!
.
It was a great day at the Food Pantry!  We were back to a number of clients more like what we experienced last Fall – 78 households tonight. We also had the CTFB Outreach team helping clients obtain SNAP benefits and the Wesley Nurse Sharon with us again doing health checks. It was a busy place!
.
A devotion I read this week from pastor/author Max Lucado ended with the notion, “You can do something today that will outlive your life.”  It reminded me of the butterfly effect we all read about a few years back, where a tiny action one place makes a small difference that in turn makes a larger impact somewhere else, and so on. Putting food on the table for a family this week might keep that family just a bit more stable for a few more days, keeping a child off the street and in school, and who grows up to make a substantial contribution to the world. Who knows what God might do with your gift? Thanks to you all for making a big difference that just might outlive your life!
.
Join us… Covenant food pantry has the following volunteer needs! Training will be provided.
.
(1) Help with Annual Certification of clients 4:00 – 7:00 Wednesdays beginning July 6. It’s a 5-minute sit with clients to fill out a form. We will need the most help the first few weeks. Spanish and Vietnamese skills are especially valuable, but not required. There will be a mandatory training class the prior Wednesday.
.
(2) Receive Whole Food Deliveries. Cover for a vacationing volunteer Fridays July 1-29.  Be at church at 2:00 (time negotiable), bring in, weigh and put away food.
.
For more information about any of the above opportunities, contact Carl at 512-940-3975 or reply to this email.
.
If you are interested in exploring a leadership position in the Food Pantry, please contact Carl or Pastor Stella.
.
Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers, and as always, please pray for all our clients,
.
