Food Pantry Weekly, 20Jan2016

Greetings Foodies!
.
The stock market goes up and down (mostly down this month), professional football teams are being weeded out week by week, political campaigns are getting uglier and many days the world seems to be spiraling downward as Johnny Cash said, “in a burning ring of fire.”  Covenant Food Pantry, on the other hand, is rolling right along. Donations roll in and volunteers give unselfishly of their time, helping people every week. God is good!
.
I had an Aha! moment this week. Pastor Stella asked me to run some numbers for her and the results were unexpected. We see people each week who we have come to know and we tend to think that we mostly have our “regulars” attending. But it’s not true. Of the 485 unique households registered in the last 27 weeks of 2015, just one in ten came 12 or more times, and only 16 came 20 or more times! That was very surprising to many of us.  But the story behind the numbers is that all those others – the ones who passed through our lives just a few times, maybe even just once, who we never got to know at all, are all out there, likely still struggling. All those stories, those lives. May God have mercy on them and put other helpers in their path.
.
Please pray for all our clients.
