We all need each other. I saw this first hand a year ago following surgery that sidelined me for a while. I see it each week in the lives of those who come to the food pantry for help. And I’m seeing it currently as we are missing a couple of people who play key roles in making the food pantry work. There are lots of moving parts in this ministry, and every part is important. So to all of you doing double duty this week (and next), you are greatly appreciated!
Everyone please look at our volunteer opportunities below, even (or maybe especially) if you are currently a food pantry volunteer.
God bless you all for your support and please pray for all our clients and their families.
Needs list, for persons wanting to donate food: creamy peanut butter, dry or canned beans, canned fruit.
This week’s numbers:
– # of volunteers: 18
– # households served: 55
– # individuals served: 177
– # first-timers: 08
(1) Work with an experienced volunteer to pick up food at Capital Area Food Bank on Tuesdays at 11:00AM and take to Food Pantry. Total time from Covenant area will be about 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. This job requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs and load these items into a vehicle, then unload into the Food Pantry.
(2) Looking to take a big step into serving the poor? Ready to step your ministry up a notch? Call me. I have a couple of things I’d love to talk with you about. It will be a no-risk, no-pressure conversation, just something to think about.
To make donations, please contact the church office at 512-346-3124.
