Food Pantry Weekly, 29Jul2015

Greetings Foodies!

It was another great day at the Food Pantry. We broke some records tonight and you know how I love numbers, so bear with me for a sec…  We served 86 households tonight, a record; and those 86 represented 312 individuals, also a record. For the month of July, we served 382 households, a record; and those represented 1290 individuals, a record. So it was either a very sad night because the need is so great, or a joyful one because we were able to help so many. I suppose it’s both.

Sometimes a client will give us something, or write something for us, that hits home. Tonight, a client left us this note…

Here is a look at our fantastic new 49 cu-ft refrigerator! So you can tell just how huge it is, also in the picture is a standard sized side-by-side residential unit.

Volunteer opportunities

(1) Have some time on Wednesday mornings?  We have a small group that weighs and sorts produce, bread and other items coming from Trader Joe’s and HEB, and helps set up for Wednesday nights. Come at 10:00AM to help.

(2) How about Tuesday noons?  For the next 3 Tuesdays (while Vickie M is on vacation) help me receive and inventory the food coming from Capital Area Food Bank. It won’t take long – less than an hour each time – but may take some light lifting.

To volunteer or for more information, please contact Carl Wilson at:
