Jon grew up in McLean, VA, a suburb of Washington, DC, experiencing a call to local church ministry the summer before his junior year of high school. Jon attended Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, studying Philosophy, Religion, and Spanish. After college, Jon headed to Nashville where he completed the Center for Youth Ministry Training, in which he served as a youth director for two years before attending Vanderbilt Divinity for his Master’s of Divinity.
Jon was ordained in 2015. He served as solo pastor of Dodson Chapel UMC for three years and associate pastor at Leander UMC, joining Covenant in July 2019. His hobbies include running, watching sports, and enjoying Mexican restaurants.
Emma Lake Boydston
Director of Children's Ministries and Administration
Emma Lake Boydston is from Tomball, Texas and graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Her love of service and children has taken her to the mountains of Kenya for mission trips to a summer as an au pair in Spain. She has taught elementary school music, worked at a music therapy facility, and taught drama classes. She loves playing ukulele, gardening, and running when it's not 100 degrees outside.
Richard has been involved in music almost all of his life. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a Master’s Degree in music Richard has been involved as a public school music teacher for thirty-one years. For the last seventeen years, Mr. Frazier has been on the faculty at Anderson High School where he teaches orchestra, guitar, and IB music as well as serving as Department Chair for Fine Arts.
Praise Band leader
Roel was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and has been living in Austin for over half his life now. He earned a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Liberal Arts from St. Edward's University. He has worked in higher education since 2002 and has been at at St. Edward's for about 15 years; mostly as an Academic Advisor. Since 1996 he has kept himself busy in various bands, duets, worship teams, songwriting groups and even a mandolin orchestra.
Evelyn recently joined our staff as our part time Bookkeeper. She retired about a year ago from a career in College Media and newspaper publishing.
Steve Wottrich is our faithful pianist and organist, and has served at Covenant for nearly 15 years. We are blessed to have someone of his caliber who is able to play so many styles with such grace. You might see him on the streets of Austin in his day job as a postman.
Jan taught pre-Kindergarten at Covenant UMC Preschool for eight years before becoming Director. Her previous experience includes other preschool teaching, as well as teaching kindergarten and first grade. She holds her bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Kindergarten Education and her master’s degree in Children’s Literature.
