Qualified Charitable Distributions from IRAs

The ā€œtax Cuts and Jobs Actā€ passed in December 2017 makes donations from IRAs directly to charity an even more powerful way to give money. Why? Because the Act nearly doubled everyoneā€™s standard deduction beginning in 2018. The ā€œstandard deductionā€ is the amount all taxpayers can deduct from their taxable income instead of itemizing deductions. The percent of taxpayers itemizing deductions dropped from 30% in 2017 to approximately 10% beginning in 2018. What this means for many seniors who are 70 Ā½ or older is that the only way to reduce their tax bill is to make charitable donations directly from their IRA. Endowment Fund

ā€œOne generation shall extol your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.ā€ Psalm 145:4

Help us build a Legacy of Faith for future generations. This Fund is the means through which gifts will become a living memorial and a perpetual source of financial support to benefit the church and its programs. It is the vehicle for receiving and managing gifts that looks to the future, and it enhances the ability of the church to promote its ministries and care for its property. By making a gift to the CUMC Endowment Fund in the Online Giving Form above, you are able to praise Godā€™s work to future generationsā€¦

How We Give Back

These are some of the ways that we bless others with the gifts God has blessed us with: Food Pantry, Crop Walk, Preschool Ministry, Table of Grace, and Other Ministries.

As Gracious Givers, We Express The Three Gā€™s

Grateful - CUMC is a congregation of Grateful people. Grateful for our experience of the love of God and transformative living, and for the resources God has entrusted to us for serving God and humanity.

Generous - Our Gratitude leads to Generosity; a desire to bless others because we have been blessed. Generous:  with our time, with the financial resources God has entrusted to us, with our energy and skills, with our love and caring.

Giving - Our Generosity shows itself in Giving. What does one person give to another? They give of themselves, of the most precious they have, they give of their life - (Erich Fromm rephrased)

These three G's lead us into a deeper, more inspiring relationship with God, the Great Spirit, the maker and sustainer of heaven and earth.

These three G's lead us into prayerful mission to bring God's Good News of love, freedom and peace to all people.

Give the three G's a try and discover that, like love, blessings are something that only multiply when you give them away.

Thank You for Your Continued Support

We appreciate your help as we at CUMC do our best to answer the call to Nourish Others.
