Covenant Food Pantry

A Covenant Cares Ministry

The Covenant Food Pantry was established in 2011 to help with the problem of food insecurity within our Austin community especially in the surrounding zip codes. Our operations take place on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-5:30pm.

In the past few months, we have implemented a computer registration system which greatly reduced the time of getting our clients registered and through the food line. We have also completely renovated the lower wing of the education building so that at some point we can operate back inside.

We are currently using a drive-through model which allows our clients to stay safely in their cars while still receiving canned and non-perishable foods, fresh produce, meat, eggs, diapers, toiletries, and more.

We receive most of our food thanks to our partnership with the Central Texas Food Bank! Due to the amount of food we order each week, the food bank has been delivering our order which saves us an enormous amount of time and money. We also partner with the Austin Diaper Bank who provides nearly 8,000 diapers and related products each month!

The food pantry is fortunate to periodically receive and then  handout fresh produce from local community gardens such as the Adelphi Acre Community Garden and the Lamplight Village Community Garden.

We also welcome and receive donations of food and funds from individuals from both church members and the local community. Donations may be dropped off anytime during the week in our large black donation bin, located next to the back ramp near the playground.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated team of volunteers which come from both the church membership and local community. It is definitely a calling of God and He has blessed this ministry!
